Butler’s run to the Final Four attracted the largest overnight rating for the early National Semifinal since George Mason’s famous run four years ago.
Saturday’s Butler/Michigan St. game drew a 9.4/20 overnight rating, up 8% from Michigan St./Connecticut last year (8.7/18), and up 21% from Memphis/UCLA in ’08 (7.8/16).
The 9.4 overnight is the highest for the early National Semifinal since Florida/George Mason in ’06 (9.5/19).
Overall, CBS averaged a 9.7/19 overnight rating for Saturday’s Final Four doubleheader, up 8% from last year (9.0/18), and the network’s highest average since 2005.
