Just over a year after initially retiring, former ESPN NBA analyst Bill Walton continues to add to his limited NBA slate.
Walton will call select Celtics games for Comcast SportsNet New England this year, all originating from the West Coast. He will make his CSN NE debut on January 27 for Celtics/Trail Blazers, and will work four games overall in January and February.
From 1985-87, Walton played for the Celtics, winning one championship (1986).
The Celtics gig comes months after Walton joined the Sacramento Kings broadcast team as a “special contributor.” He will work 10 Kings games this season, joining the team’s regular broadcast team “for a quarter or two” and serving as a radio analyst for pre-and-post game coverage.
Back problems forced Walton to miss most of the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons for ESPN/ABC. He retired from broadcasting days into the 2009-10 season.
