NBC again suffered a ratings decline for coverage of Notre Dame football.
Notre Dame’s upset win over then-ranked Utah drew a 1.5 final rating on NBC last Saturday. Viewership was not immediately available.
The 1.5 marks a 21% decline from NBC’s seventh Notre Dame telecast last year (NAVY/ND: 1.9), and a 25% drop from the seventh telecast in 2007 (DUKE/ND: 1.2). NBC aired only six telecasts in 2008.
Four of the last five Notre Dame games on NBC have had double-digit declines in ratings.
Additionally, Saturday’s game was the fifth Notre Dame game on NBC this season to draw less than a 2.0 rating. Last season, only three telecasts drew less than a 2.0.
NBC’s Notre Dame was outdrawn head-to-head by college football action on CBS (5.0) and ABC (4.0).
