Instead of LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant, the Temple Owls and Ohio Bobcats will take center stage on ESPN November 2.
According to the television schedule available on the ESPN media website, ESPN will televise the Temple/Ohio college football game at 8 PM ET November 2, replacing the canceled Heat/Knicks and Lakers/Warriors NBA doubleheader. The one-hour edition of NBA Countdown that was to air that night will be replaced by an extra hour of SportsCenter.
On Friday, November 4, the Celtics/Hawks and Trail Blazers/Clippers doubleheader will be replaced by the USC/Colorado college football game and related studio programming.
The next week, the November 9 Rockets/Sixers and Spurs/Lakers doubleheader will replaced by another Temple football game, this one against Miami (OH).
Finally, the November 11 Nuggets/Lakers game — which was to be the second half of a college basketball/NBA doubleheader — will simply be replaced by SportsCenter.
NBA Commissioner David Stern elected Monday to cancel the first two weeks of the regular season after the owners were not able to come to an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement with the National Basketball Players Association.
NBA owners began a lockout of the players on July 1, the fourth NBA lockout of the past sixteen years.
