For the second straight year, the start time for the NHL’s Winter Classic has been pushed back due to weather concerns.
The NHL announced Sunday that the January 2 Rangers/Flyers Winter Classic from Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park will be pushed back from the original start time of 1 PM ET to 3 PM ET. The game will remain on NBC.
In the statement announcing the move, the NHL said the 3 PM start “should offer optimal game conditions for players and fans” (NHL.com, 1/1).
Last year’s Capitals/Penguins Winter Classic from Pittsburgh’s Heinz Field was moved from 1 PM ET to 8 PM.
