The ‘Subway Series’ and a dearth of competition helped FOX to a season-high in the ratings last week.
Regional Major League Baseball action featuring Yankees/Mets in 38% of markets drew a 2.6 final rating on FOX last Saturday night, up 53% from afternoon coverage featuring Yankees/Cubs in week twelve last season (1.7), and up 18% from primetime coverage featuring Yankees/Dodgers in week twelve of the 2010 season (2.2).
The 2.6 rating is the highest of the season for Major League Baseball coverage on FOX, topping the previous high of 2.3 set by regional action on April 14.
Whereas previous primetime telecasts competed with the NBA Conference Finals, the NHL Stanley Cup Final, and golf’s U.S. Open, last week’s telecast faced only U.S. Olympic Trials coverage on NBC. With that said, baseball coverage only slightly outdrew the track & field trials on NBC (2.5).
