Former ESPN NBA analyst Bill Walton will return to the network for college basketball coverage.
According to USA Today, Walton will serve as an analyst for Pac-12 Conference college basketball games on ESPN starting this season. An official announcement is expected Monday.
An ESPN spokesman told Sports Media Watch Sunday that Walton will not contribute to the network’s NBA coverage.
Walton’s return comes nearly three years after he retired from broadcasting due to health issues. Prior to his retirement, Walton served as an NBA analyst for ESPN/ABC from 2002-08, a six-year stint that included a brief run as the network’s top game analyst.
Walton has also called NBA games for NBC and college basketball games for CBS.
