CBS Sports Network will begin airing coverage of the U.S. Open this year.
Live outer court U.S. Open matches will air on CBS Sports Network over Labor Day weekend, according to Sports Business Journal. CBS Sports Network coverage will compliment — not replace — U.S. Open coverage on the CBS broadcast network.
The move brings the total number of television networks carrying the two-week tournament to four: CBS, CBS Sports Network, ESPN and The Tennis Channel.
The addition of CBS Sports Network points toward a possible trend in national tennis coverage. The U.S. Open will be the second tournament to have simultaneous coverage on two television networks. Earlier this month, ESPN and ESPN2 aired concurrent coverage of Wimbledon, with the former carrying Centre Court matches, and the latter airing matches on other courts.
CBS Sports Network will also carry the U.S. Open qualifying rounds from August 21-24.
