Overnight ratings continued to climb for the British Open on ESPN Saturday.
Third round coverage of the 2012 British Open earned a 3.0 overnight rating on ESPN Saturday morning and afternoon, up 58% from last year (1.9) and up 11% from 2010 (2.7).
The 3.0 overnight is the highest ever for the British Open on ESPN (dates back to 2010), and the highest for the third round on any network since 2006 (3.5, ABC).
Saturday’s six-year high comes on the heels of a ten-year high for the third round of the U.S. Open in June.
In addition to the primary 9:00 AM ET-2:00 PM telecast window, early morning coverage from 7:00-9:00 AM drew a 1.2 overnight — up a tick from last year (1.1).
