When Notre Dame is successful on the field, NBC is successful in the ratings.
Last Saturday’s Stanford/Notre Dame college football game drew a 3.3 final rating and 5.2 million viewers on NBC — up 57% in ratings and 61% in viewership from USC/Notre Dame in primetime last year (2.1, 3.225M), and up 154% and 182%, respectively, from Pittsburgh/Notre Dame in 2010 (1.3, 1.844M).
The game earned the second-best numbers of the season for Notre Dame on NBC, trailing only the primetime game against Michigan last month (4.0, 6.384M).
Three of the four Notre Dame games on NBC this season have had increases in ratings and viewership of at least 50%. The only exception was Purdue/Notre Dame in week two of the season, which was down double-digits.
Stanford/Notre Dame was the #2 college football game of the day on any network, trailing only South Carolina/LSU on ESPN (3.7, 5.978M).
Head-to-head, the game edged regional action on ABC (3.1, 4.551M), and finished comfortably ahead of both Alabama/Missouri on CBS and Utah/UCLA on FOX.
