Notre Dame Football Staying Put on NBC
- NBC Sports Group has reached a ten-year TV rights extension to continue televising Notre Dame home football games, the network announced Thursday. Under the new agreement, which runs from 2016 to 2025, a minimum of seven home games per year will air on the NBC broadcast network. NBC will also have the right to move select games to NBC Sports Network, an option the network has under the current five-year deal. (NBC Sports Group)
Several Bowl Dates Announced
- Several college football bowl dates have been announced recently. Among the notable items: The Poinsettia Bowl gets a post-Christmas date for the first time (12/26, 9:30 PM), the Fight Hunger Bowl will return to primetime (12/27, 9:30 PM), and the Independence Bowl moves to New Year’s Eve for the first time in a decade (12:30 PM). Other announced bowls include the Hawaii (12/24, 8 PM), Belk (12/28, 3 PM), Armed Forces (12/30, 11:45 AM), Alamo (12/30, 6:45 PM), Holiday (12/30, 10:15 PM) and Liberty (12/31, 4 PM). Fox Sports Announces Deal With Women’s Soccer League
- The new National Women’s Soccer League has agreed to a one-year television deal with Fox Sports Media Group, the sides announced Thursday. The deal calls for the departing Fox Soccer channel to air six regular season matches starting in July, with an unnamed Fox Sports outlet airing the league’s semifinal and final matches in late August.
