After reports that he would join ESPN’s SEC Network, former CBS Sports anchor Tim Brando is headed to FOX.
Fox Sports announced Wednesday that it has hired Brando to serve as a play-by-play voice for college football and basketball games on FOX and Fox Sports 1 starting this fall. Brando left CBS earlier this year, ending an eighteen-year association that included anchoring the SEC on CBS and calling NCAA Tournament games.
Brando was originally expected to join ESPN’s SEC Network, and an ESPN spokesperson even confirmed to the Montgomery Advertiser that the sides had reached an agreement. In a statement to his Facebook page Wednesday, Brando said that football “was never part of [SEC Network’s] short term vision for my future. I want to thank them and the SEC for their interest and wish them nothing but the best” (Facebook, 6/25).
FOX has not yet announced Brando’s broadcast partners.
