- CNN has canceled the Rachel Nichols vehicle Unguarded less than a year after it premiered. The show was one of several to get the axe as part of the network’s recent cutbacks. Nichols will remain with CNN and Turner Sports. (Sports Business Daily)
Jersey Ads Part of Conversation in New TV Deal
- Advertising on NBA jerseys was a point of contention during the league’s recent TV negotiations, Sports Business Journal reported Monday. Should the league allow jersey ads, the new TV deal requires companies with such sponsorship to purchase additional ad slots during nationally televised games — provided that they would have advertised during the game to begin with. The networks sought to sell space on jerseys, but the league reserved that right for its teams. (Sports Business Journal)
ESPN’s NBA Pregame on Location Christmas Day
- ESPN’s NBA Countdown pregame show will travel to Miami for the Christmas Day Cavaliers/Heat game, the first time the show has left the studio during the regular season since the Heat’s 2010 home opener. NBA Countdown — then titled NBA Shootaround — previously traveled on site for Christmas Day games in 2002, 2004 and 2006. (ESPN Media Zone)
