Rain delays led to lower ratings for the Honda Classic.
Third and partial final round coverage of the PGA Tour Honda Classic drew a 1.7 final rating and 2.6 million viewers on NBC last Sunday, down 35% in ratings and 32% in viewership from last year (2.6, 3.9M) and down 15% and 7%, respectively, from 2013 (2.0, 2.8M).
Compared to last year’s third round, which aired on the customary Saturday, ratings and viewership increased by 13% and 26%, respectively (1.5, 2.0M).
The 1.7 rating is tied as the lowest for Sunday coverage of the event since 2010 (1.6), and viewership ranks as the lowest since 2011 (2.5M). Considering that rain pushed the third and final round back a day, the multi-year lows do not amount to much.
Ratings and viewership were not immediately available for Saturday’s rainout coverage.
