NBCSN scored its largest Premier League audience in more than two months last weekend. In other news, ESPN had a modest rise in viewership for Hawks/Warriors and ratings held steady for NASCAR Xfinity Series racing on FOX.
NBCSN Earns Top EPL Audience Since Mid-January
- Last Sunday’s Tottenham/Manchester United English Premier League match drew a 0.4 final rating and 752,000 viewers on NBCSN, the network’s most-watched EPL telecast in more than two months — since Manchester United/Southampton on January 11 (801K). The match was the top soccer telecast of the week on any network, the first time the EPL has taken top honors since the week ending February 1. (via Awful Announcing)
Modest Bump For Hawks/Warriors on ESPN
- Wednesday’s Hawks/Warriors NBA regular season game, a match-up of conference leaders, drew 1.6 million viewers on ESPN — up 6% from Spurs/Lakers last year (1.5M). The Warriors’ blowout win was topped head-to-head by the Dayton/Boise State NCAA Tournament game on TruTV (1.7M) and had fewer viewers than Lakers/Warriors in the same window two nights earlier (1.60M to 1.58M) — though that game did not face notable competition. Magic/Mavericks drew 847,000 earlier in the night (-50%), the eighth NBA game to slip below one million viewers this season. (via ShowBuzz Daily)
Ratings Flat For Xfinity Series From Phoenix
- NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Phoenix drew a 1.6 final rating and 2.5 million viewers on FOX last Saturday, flat in ratings compared to last year’s race on ABC (1.6) and up 14% and 19%, respectively, from the 2013 race on ESPN2 (1.4, 2.1M). Keep in mind Phoenix was the second race of the season prior to this year. Compared to last year’s fourth race of the season, which took place from Bristol and aired on ESPN2, ratings and viewership increased by 46% and 47%, respectively, from a 1.1 and 1.7 million.
