The United States has fueled big gains for the Gold Cup on Fox Sports.
Gold Cup group stage matches have averaged 343,000 viewers across Fox Sports 1 and FS2 through Monday, up 90% from the complete group stage average in 2013, when coverage aired on Fox Soccer and the FOX broadcast network. The three U.S. matches have averaged 1.0 million, up 92% from the comparable matches in 2013 (540K).
Each of those three matches has been the most-watched men’s soccer telecast ever on Fox Sports 1. USA/Honduras set the initial mark on July 7 (986K) and was eclipsed by USA/Haiti on Friday (1.0M), which was in turn topped by Monday’s USA/Panama match (1.1M).
It should be noted that the Univision networks have outdrawn Fox Sports for each Gold Cup match this year, including each involving the United States. USA/Panama drew 1.5 million viewers on UniMas, topping the FS1 telecast by 41% and bringing the combined total for the match to 2.6 million.
