ESPN has disciplined MLB analyst Curt Schilling. In other news, Inside the NFL will have a new host this season, and NESN is parting ways with longtime Red Sox voice Don Orsillo.
Schilling Disciplined
- ESPN announced Tuesday that it has suspended baseball analyst Curt Schlling from Little League World Series coverage after he posted an image on Twitter that the network called “completely unacceptable.” The image in question compared the percentage of extremist Muslims to the percentage of Nazis in Germany during World War II. In a statement to his Twitter account, Schilling said he understands and accepts his suspension, saying the circumstance was “100%” his fault. (ESPN Media Zone, Twitter)
Schein to Replace Gumbel on Inside the NFL
- CBS Sports Network anchor Adam Schein has been named the new host of Inside the NFL on Showtime, the show’s official Twitter account announced Tuesday. Schein will replace Greg Gumbel, who joined the show last year — marking the third different host the show has had since moving from HBO to Showtime in 2008. (Twitter)
NESN Parting Ways With Orsillo
- NESN will part ways with Red Sox play-by-play voice Don Orsillo at the end of the season, the Boston Globe reported Tuesday. Orsillo has been the voice of the Red Sox on NESN since 2001 and also spent several years working postseason games nationally for TBS. ESPN MLB voice Dave O’Brien is expected to fill the vacancy.
