ESPN Re-Signs John Saunders
- ESPN announced Monday that it has reached a contract extension with longtime broadcaster John Saunders. Under the multi-year agreement, Saunders continue serving as a college football studio host, college basketball play-by-play voice, and host of The Sports Reporters. The new deal will extend Saunders’ ESPN tenure past the 30 year mark. (ESPN Media Zone)
ESPN’s Smith Cancer Free
- ESPN reporter Shelley Smith announced last week that she is cancer free after 15 months battling the disease. Smith went public with her breast cancer diagnosis last October and began treatment in January, still managing to cover the NFL Draft in between rounds of radiation. (ESPN Front Row)
Vin Scully Has Not Yet Decided on Return
- Los Angeles Dodgers play-by-play voice Vin Scully has not yet decided whether he will return next season, The Los Angeles Times reported Monday. Scully, who is in his 67th season with the Dodgers, has returned to the team every year since announcing his intention to retire at the end of the 2010 season. (Los Angeles Times)
