Pro golf’s annual stop at Doral bounced back from a weak performance last year.
Final round coverage of the PGA/WGC Cadillac Championship scored a 3.0* overnight rating on NBC Sunday afternoon, up 15% from last year (2.6) but down 12% from 2014 (3.4). The 3.0 is the second-lowest for final round coverage from Doral in the past five years, and the fourth-lowest dating back to 2002.
On a brighter note, the 3.0 is also the second-highest overnight of the season for a PGA Tour event, behind final round action from Pebble Beach in February (3.4).
Third round action on Saturday scored a 2.0 overnight, up 18% from last year (1.7), but down 13% from ’14 (2.3). The 2.0 is the highest of the season for a third round telecast.
* Sports Business Daily reported a 2.9 overnight for Sunday’s final round coverage.
