FOX earned one of its better Major League Baseball overnights in recent years. In other news, IndyCar’s Detroit doubleheader was virtually unchanged from last year, and NASCAR’s washout weekend at Pocono delivered low numbers.
Decent Outing For MLB on FOX
- Regional Major League Baseball action on FOX earned a 1.8 overnight rating on Saturday night, even with last year and up 13% from the network’s third telecast in 2014 (1.6). The 1.8 is tied as the third-highest for any MLB telecast on FOX in the past three seasons. Head-to-head, coverage ranked just a tick behind the Stanley Cup Final on NBCSN (1.9).
IndyCar Detroit Doubleheader on Par With Last Year
- IndyCar Series racing from Detroit earned a 0.8 overnight rating on ABC Saturday and a 1.0 on Sunday, up a tick and flat, respectively, from last year (0.7 and 1.0). Compared to 2014, overnights were flat on Saturday and up 43% on Sunday.
NASCAR Xfinity Hits FOX Low
- Rainout coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Pocono earned a 0.8 overnight rating on Fox Sports 1 Sunday afternoon. The previous day, the first ever Xfinity Series race at Pocono had a 1.0 on the FOX broadcast network — the series’ lowest on broadcast television since the current TV deal began last year (12 telecasts). Keep in mind the race was shortened due to rain.
