Warriors’ Latest Rout Does Well
- Thunder/Warriors scored 2.6 million viewers on the latest edition of ESPN’s NBA Wednesday, up 135% from Hawks/Blazers last year (1.1M) and up 66% from Rockets/Warriors in 2015 (1.6M). Ratings were not immediately available. Compared to Warriors/Bulls on the comparable night last year, which aired in an earlier window, viewership increased 28% from 2.1 million. The Warriors’ easy win ranks as the eighth-most watched game this season, with Golden State having played in seven of the top ten. Earlier in the night, Bucks/Rockets had 1.3 million (-37%).
Double-Digit Declines For NBA on TNT Thursday
- Wizards/Knicks had 1.4 million viewers on the NBA on TNT Thursday, down 30% from Clippers/Cavaliers last year (2.0M) and down 23% from Spurs/Bulls in 2014 (1.9M). The Timberwolves/Clippers nightcap earned 1.2 million, down 13% from Spurs/Suns last year (1.4M) but up 10% from Nets/Clippers in ’15 (1.1M).
Mixed Results For PGA Hawaiian Open
- Final round coverage of the PGA Tour Hawaiian Open had a 0.2 final rating and 282,000 viewers on Golf Channel last Sunday evening, down a tick in ratings and 39% in viewership from last year (0.3, 463K) but up a tick and 70% respectively from 2015 (0.1, 167K). Unlike in previous years, coverage aired directly opposite the NFL playoffs. Third round action last Saturday was slightly higher at a 0.2 and 283,000, up a tick in ratings and 42% in viewership from last year (0.1, 200K) but down a tick and 35% respectively from 2015 (0.3, 438K).
