Ratings: Notre Dame, SEC on CBS, CFB on FOX

Last Saturday’s Syracuse-Notre Dame college football game had a 1.8 rating and 2.87 million viewers on NBC, down 10% in ratings and viewership from the network’s final Notre Dame game last season (Navy-ND: 2.0, 3.20M), but up 20% and 17% from its final telecast in 2016 (VT-ND: 1.5, 2.45M).

Notre Dame’s blowout win was the team’s most-watched afternoon game this season.

Despite the decline, NBC finished the season averaging 3.49 million viewers for Notre Dame coverage (including streaming) — up 40% from last year (2.50M) and its most-watched season since 2012 (4.38M).

Missouri-Tennessee scored a 1.3 rating and 2.03 million viewers on the SEC on CBS last weekend, down 38% in ratings and 40% in viewership from last year (Kentucky-Georgia: 2.1, 3.40M) and down 13% and 17% respectively from the same matchup in 2016 (1.5, 2.45M).

The Tigers’ easy win was the lowest rated and least-watched game of the season on CBS. The 1.3 rating is the lowest for the primary SEC on CBS window — 3:30 PM ET — in at least a decade.

FOX earned a 1.8 rating and 2.76 million viewers for Kansas-Oklahoma last Saturday night, up 89% in ratings and 73% in viewership from last year (Cal-Stanford: 1.0, 1.60M) and up 38% and 27% respectively from 2016 (ASU-Washington: 1.3, 2.18M).

Earlier in the day, Michigan State-Nebraska had a 1.6 (-52%) and 2.52 million (-52%) and USC-UCLA a 1.3 (flat) and 1.98 million (-3%).

Over on FS1, Indiana-Michigan scored a 1.4 and 2.27 million Saturday afternoon — up 75% in ratings and 45% in viewership from last year (Nebraska-Penn State: 0.8, 1.56M) and the network’s second-best game of the season. Minnesota-Ohio State had a 1.5 and 2.41 million last month.
