Vick doc opens with decline
Part one of the ESPN 30 For 30 documentary “Vick” averaged a 0.6 rating and 941,000 viewers Thursday night, down a tick in ratings and 18% in viewership from “Deion’s Double Play” on the same night last year (0.7, 1.15M) and down 25% in both measures from “The Two Bills” in 2018 (0.8, 1.26M).
It comfortably topped the previous 30 For 30 premiere, “Chuck and Tito” in October (0.39, 609K).
Declines for US Figure Skating Championships
The women’s free skate at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships averaged a 1.6 rating and 2.39 million viewers on NBC last Friday night, down 20% in ratings and 22% in viewership from last year (2.0, 3.06M) and down 41% and 47% respectively from the Olympic year in 2018 (2.7, 4.48M).
In other action, the men’s free skate averaged a 0.9 (-25%) and 1.34 million (-25%) last Sunday afternoon. NBC also averaged a 0.7 (-13%) and 944,000 (-13%) for the men’s short program on Saturday.
Soft week for Wednesday Night Hockey
NBCSN averaged a 0.24 rating and 387,000 viewers for Predators-Capitals on NHL Wednesday Night Hockey this week, down 17% in ratings and 22% in viewership from last year (Lightning-Penguins: 0.29, 494K), but up 4% and a fraction of a percent, respectively, from 2018 (Flyers-Capitals: 0.23, 386K).
In other action, Wednesday’s Lightning-Kings nightcap averaged 180,000; Predators-Devils drew 268,000 on Thursday; Lightning-Stars scored 239,000 on Monday (+23%).
Miscellaneous: Senior Bowl, Pegasus World Cup, Daytona, X Games
College football’s Senior Bowl averaged a 0.38 rating (-14%) and 590,000 viewers (-10%) on NFL Network last weekend, marking the least-watched edition of the game in at least a decade. … The Pegasus World Cup horse race averaged a 0.8 rating (flat) and 1.10 million viewers (-2%) on NBC last Saturday. … NBC averaged a 0.7 rating and 994,000 viewers for its portion of the 24 Hours of Daytona auto race; the network did not carry any coverage last year. … ABC averaged a 0.55 rating (-19%) and 856,000 viewers (-13%) for X Games coverage last Saturday.
