Overnight ratings inched up for NASCAR from Talladega on Sunday, but remained among the lowest since FOX began airing races in 2001.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Aaron’s 499 from Talladega drew a 4.7 overnight rating on FOX Sunday afternoon, up a tick from last year (4.6), but down 4% from 2010 (4.9).
Excluding the rained-out 2006 race, the 4.7 is the third-lowest for the spring Talladega race since FOX began televising the event in 2001, ahead of only last year and 2009 (4.5).
The telecast ranks as just the second of the season to have an increase in overnight ratings compared to last year. Of the ten NASCAR races this year, only four have been able to avoid suffering a decline in overnight ratings.
