The recent acrimony involving Joey Logano, Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin did not do much to lift the ratings for NASCAR from Martinsville last week.
Last Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup STP Gas Booster 400 from Martinsville (VA) earned a 4.4 final rating on FOX, up a tick from last year (4.3), and even with 2011 (4.4).
Excluding rainouts, the 4.4 rating is tied as the second-lowest for the spring Martinsville race since the 2002 edition on FX (3.2).
As recently as 2006, the race drew a much higher 6.2 rating — part of a six-year stretch (2003-2008) in which the race earned at least a 5.0 each year.
