The ongoing battle between Sidney Crosby‘s Penguins and Alex Ovechkin‘s Capitals is drawing big numbers on Versus.
Game 2 between the Penguins and Capitals drew a 1.2 cable rating and 1.21 million viewers on Versus Monday night, making the game the highest rated, most viewed second round Stanley Cup Playoff game ever on Versus.
The game was the most viewed second round playoff game on cable since Sharks/Avalanche drew 1.4 million on ESPN in ’02.
Versus’ coverage drew a 16.1 rating in Pittsburgh and a 5.3 in Washington.
Through Tuesday, Versus is averaging 700,860 viewers for second round coverage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, up 10% from 636,777 viewers through the same point last year. For the postseason as a whole, Versus has seen an 18% rise in viewership.
