- FOX drew a 3.1 overnight rating for regional MLB coverage featuring Red Sox/Yankees on Saturday. If the rating holds — unlikely, as most MLB telecasts see a drop from the overnight to the final rating — Saturday’s game would mark the highest rated regular season MLB telecast since ’07.
- The aforementioned Red Sox/Yankees series was a hit in the local TV ratings. In New York, the four-game series drew a 9.7 (Thu. on Ch. 9), 9.6 (Fri. on YES), 8.5 (Sat. on FOX) and 10.3 (Sun. on ESPN). The 9.6 for the Friday night game on YES is the second-highest rating in the history of the network. In Boston, Sunday night’s game on ESPN drew a 12.3.
- Through the first two quarters of 2009, ESPN has seen a 14% rise in viewership for live editions of SportsCenter during the 9 AM-3 PM timeslot. Tuesday marks the 1-year anniversary of the debut of the live, daytime editions of SportsCenter.
