FOX scored a slight bump for college football coverage on Saturday. In other news, NASCAR’s Xfinity Series had another big decline on NBCSN, and the Premier League scored an uptick on NBC.
FOX Sees Uptick For Afternoon College Football
- The West Virginia/Baylor college football game drew a 1.5 overnight rating on FOX early Saturday afternoon, up a tick from the network’s lone week seven game last year, Oregon/UCLA in the mid-afternoon window (1.4). The 1.5 was the lowest of the weekend for college football on broadcast, marking the sixth time in seven weeks that FOX has aired the lowest rated game in the metered markets.
Another Drop For NASCAR Xfinity Series
- NASCAR Xfinity Series racing from Kansas drew a 0.7 overnight rating Saturday afternoon, down 30% from coverage on ESPN last year, which had a direct lead-in from college football (1.0). Of the 29 regularly scheduled races this season, nearly half — 14 — have had less than a 0.8 overnight.
Slight Bump For EPL on NBC
- NBC drew a 0.6 overnight rating for Saturday’s Watford/Arsenal English Premier League match, up a tick from Swansea City/Leicester City last year (0.5) and the network’s lowest rated game of the season in the metered markets (five telecasts).
