Alabama’s Mark Ingram was not the only winner at Saturday’s Heisman Trophy Presentation.
ESPN drew a 3.5 U.S. rating and nearly 6 million viewers for the Heisman Trophy Presentation Saturday night, up 30% in ratings and 44% in viewership from last year, and up 35% and 40%, respectively, from 2007.
Saturday’s telecast ranks as the most-viewed Heisman Trophy Presentation ever on ESPN, topping the previous high set in ’07.
The event drew a 17.8 rating in Birmingham, AL, the highest for the Heisman presentation in that market since 2003.
To put the numbers in perspective, the Heisman Trophy Presentation outdrew the first round of last April’s NFL Draft (3.4, 5.1 mil).
