In a slow week for the SEC, CBS put up one of its lowest overnights of the season.
The LSU/Mississippi college football game had a 1.9 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, down 71% from Mississippi State/Alabama last year (6.6), down 46% from Georgia/Auburn in 2013 (3.5), and network’s second-lowest overnight of the season. Only Georgia/Vanderbilt in week two had a lower rating in the metered markets (1.8).
The 1.9 is tied as the second-lowest for the SEC on CBS in the main 3:30 PM ET window over the past four years — since Mississippi State/Arkansas in November 2011 (1.6).
Keep in mind Mississippi’s win aired directly opposite Michigan State/Ohio State on ABC, which had a season-high 7.0 overnight. The SEC on CBS has now failed to top the charts in nine of 12 weeks this season, after having done so nine times in 13 tries last year.
