Tiger Woods‘ near victory at the Chevron World Challenge propelled the event to its highest overnight rating in eight years.
Final round coverage of the Chevron World Challenge, won by Graeme McDowell in a playoff over Tiger Woods, earned a 2.7 overnight rating on NBC Sunday — up 170% from last year (1.0), and up 93% from 2008 (1.4).
The 2.7 is the highest overnight for the tournament since 2002 (3.1).
Excluding majors, this marks the highest overnight for any golf telecast on broadcast since the final round of The Memorial in June (3.2).
West Palm Beach, FL (6.7) was the top market for Sunday’s coverage, followed by Fort Myers, FL (6.0), Greensboro, NC (5.5) and Orlando (4.3).
On Saturday, third round action drew a 1.6 overnight, up 167% from last year (0.6) and up 23% from 2008 (1.3).
