The first overtime game of the 2010 NBA Playoffs drew strong numbers on ESPN Monday night.
Monday’s Magic/Celtics Game 4, won by Orlando in overtime, drew a 6.2 overnight rating on ESPN, up 41% from Game 3 on Saturday night (4.4), and the highest overnight rating of the Conference Finals.
Game 4 drew a 19.2 rating in Boston, the market’s highest rating ever for an NBA game on ESPN — especially impressive considering that ESPN aired most of the Celtics’ 2008 Eastern Final against the Pistons.
In Orlando, the game drew an 11.7 rating, also a record high for an NBA game on ESPN in the market. The 11.7 tops the previous record of 10.2, set by Saturday’s Game 3.
Overnight ratings for last year’s Lakers/Nuggets Game 4 were not immediately available.
