Momentum from the Daytona 500 did not carry into the second race of the NASCAR season.
FOX earned a 5.6 final rating and 9.1 million viewers for Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Subway Fresh Fit 500, flat in ratings and down 1% in viewership from last year (5.6, 9.2M), and down 5% and 12%, respectively, from 2011 (5.9, 10.3M).
The 5.6 is tied as the lowest for the second race of the NASCAR season since FOX began airing races in 2001 (Rockingham until 2004, Fontana from 2005-10, Phoenix since 2011).
With that said, Sunday’s race was easily the top sporting event of the week on any network.
