NBC Sports has announced broadcast plans for the 2013-14 English Premier League season. In other news, the NHL is planning to expand its outdoor game slate next year, and the NFL will announce its 2013 regular season schedule on Thursday.
NBC to Air 20 EPL Matches
- The NBC broadcast network is expected to televise 20 English Premier League matches during the 2013-14 season, NBC Sports announced Tuesday. The NBC telecasts will usually air at 12:30 PM ET on Saturdays. NBC Sports Network is set to carry 154 matches in five weekly telecast windows, and an additional 22 telecasts will air on assorted NBC cable networks such as USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, and even the E! entertainment channel. On the final day of the EPL season, all ten matches will be televised on an NBC platform. (NBC Sports Group)
NHL Planning More Outdoor Games
- As has been widely reported, the NHL is planning to hold six outdoor games next season. The league has already announced the traditional January 1 Winter Classic, which will feature the same match-up (Maple Leafs/Red Wings) and location (University of Michigan football field) as the canceled 2013 edition. The other outdoor games would include Ducks/Kings from Dodger Stadium on January 25, Devils/Rangers and Islanders/Rangers from Yankee Stadium during Super Bowl week, Penguins/Blackhawks from Soldier Field on March 1, and Senators/Canucks from Vancouver’s B.C. NFL Schedule Coming Thursday
- The NFL will announce the 2013 regular season schedule during an 8 PM ET TV special Thursday night, the league has announced. The league has already announced that the regular season will begin September 5, with the defending champion Ravens on the road against an as-yet-unnamed opponent in the annual Kickoff Game. In an intriguing move, the NFL Network telecast will include analysis by former NBC Sports Group Chairman Dick Ebersol. (NFL Communications)
