McHale Returning to TNT As Guest
- Former TNT NBA analyst Kevin McHale will rejoin the network Tuesday night as a guest studio analyst, filling in for Kenny Smith. McHale worked for Turner Sports from 2009-11, leaving to take the head coaching position with the Houston Rockets. (Turner Sports)
TNT Extends Albert
- Turner Sports announced Tuesday that it has reached a “long term” contract extension with NBA play-by-play voice Marv Albert, who will continue to call the network’s regular season, All-Star and postseason coverage. Under the new deal, he will no longer call NCAA Tournament games. Albert has been with Turner since 1999. (Turner Sports, Newsday)
ESPN Reportedly Blocked White From X Games
- ESPN barred extreme sports star Shaun White from attending the recent Winter X Games after he “disparaged the series” last year, Sports Business Daily reported Monday. White, who owns a majority share in a separate extreme sports competition, told Forbes in October that ESPN’s global X Games expansion was a “huge failure” that “ended up diluting the brand.” (Sports Business Daily, Forbes)
