Fox Sports is holding onto its lead NFL analyst. In other news, the Dallas Mavericks have revoked the media credentials of two ESPN reporters, and Len Elmore has a new gig.
Aikman Re-Signed
- Fox Sports has re-signed lead NFL analyst Troy Aikman to a three-year contract extension, Sporting News reported Thursday. Aikman has been with Fox Sports since 2001 and has been part of its lead NFL broadcast team since 2002. (Sporting News 11/10)
Credentials Revoked
- The Dallas Mavericks have revoked the media credentials of ESPN NBA reporters Tim MacMahon and Marc Stein in response to ESPN changing its daily coverage of the team. McMahon had been the Mavericks beat reporter for ESPN.com but this season was to split responsibilities between Dallas and a handful of other teams. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban felt the move was part of a shift toward lesser or lower-quality beat reporting, telling SB Nation in an e-mail this week that he wanted to “stop or slow … a negative trend” toward media outlets relying only on wire service or automated reporting. (SB Nation 11/8)
Elmore Joins FOX
- ESPN and CBS college basketball analyst Len Elmore has joined Fox Sports in the same capacity, it was announced Thursday. Elmore’s new role will not affect his position with ESPN, though it was not immediately clear whether he will continue to work for CBS. (Fox Sports, ESPN)
