ESPN’s Ron Jaworski does not know what his future holds at ESPN. In other news, ESPN has announced another extension and Dale Earnhardt Jr. may be heading to a broadcast booth near you.
Jaworski in “Limbo”
- ESPN NFL analyst Ron Jaworski said he is unclear on his status with the network and “in limbo” in a recent appearance on a podcast co-hosted by his former ESPN colleague Ed Werder. Werder, a casualty of ESPN’s massive talent cuts, indicated last month that Jaworski had also been laid off, but that was never confirmed. On the podcast, Jaworski said he is under contract until 2022 and is in talks about appearing on the network in some role. It has been ESPN’s practice to keep laid off talent on the payroll for the duration of their contracts, but prevent them from appearing on air. [NBCSports.com 6.21 via SBD 6.22]

Dale Jr. Talking With Fox, NBC
- Retiring NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. has engaged in talks with both NBC Sports and Fox Sports about an on-air role next season, Sports Business Journal reported this week. Earnhardt Jr., who has not officially stated that he intends to pursue a media career, worked a pair of Cup Series races for NBC late last year while out due to injury. [SBJ 6.19]
